Weingut Klosterhof is a family winery on the shores of the Kalterer See, farmed by the Andergassen family for generations. Even at 91, the family's grandmother could still be found in the vineyards most days, tending vine stocks she'd cultivated herself - a devotion to the land that still lives on today.

The next generation, Oskar and his late wife Barbara, built the estate into what it is today; Oskar learned the craft from his own parents and passed it on to their two sons, Daniel and Hannes. Today, all four of them work the estate together, with a hands-on approach that runs through every stage - as the family puts it: "Patience, time and time again."

The family farms four vineyard sites around Kaltern: Barleit, at 400m with views over the lake, is where the Weissburgunder grapes grow; Vial, their highest site at 530m asl, and Trifall, their largest at 2.5 hectares, together with Barleit supply the fruit for their Pinot Noir; and Plantaditsch is home to Vernatsch (Schiava) vines up to 85 years old.
