Luis Rodríguez has been crafting exceptional Ribeiro wines since 1988, championing native grapes to produce distinctive, age-worthy wines. Once world-famous for wines like Vino Tostado, Ribeiro suffered centuries of setbacks, leaving it primarily a bulk wine region - until passionate producers like Luis began reviving its unique terroir.

A passionate son of Ribeiro, Luis is one of Galicia’s most knowledgeable winegrowers. He studied enology and philosophy in Madrid, visited many of Europe’s great wine regions, and served as president of the Ribeiro D.O. for many years.

Today, he works from the tiny family adega, Viña de Martín, built by his grandfather and named after the first vineyard he inherited from his uncle Martín. He manages just under 6 hectares across nearly 200 micro-plots, primarily in the town of Arnoia, home to some of Ribeiro’s steepest south-facing vineyards, and planted with native varieties such as Treixadura, Lado, Ferrol, Caiño, and Brancellao.

With his careful, low-intervention approach, Luis has played a key role in reviving Ribeiro’s tinto tradition, earning acclaim across the Iberian Peninsula.
