The Corvers and Kauter families between them have five hundred years of winegrowing history in the Rheingau, one of the world’s most iconic wine regions.

Today, the estate is led by Dr. Matthias and Brigitte Corvers, along with their son Philipp, who joined the winery after his studies in Germany and New Zealand.

Their 12 hectares of gravity-defying organic vineyards are planted around the villages of Oestrich and Winkel in the traditional manner on the steep banks of the Rhine.

Most vines are Riesling, with some Pinot Noir and a smattering of the very rare Roter Riesling, whose pinkish berries are the result of a colour mutation, and usually bunches feature both pink and white grapes. Oestrich-Winkel is its heartland, with Corvers-Kauter one of just a handful of producers in Germany and Austria still harvesting it.
