The story.
It was the dream of Nelson Cenci, a doctor and writer, to revive these special vineyards at the foot of Monte Orfano in the southernmost reaches of the Franciacorta region. Now his daughter Giuliana and nephew Maurizio are continuing what Nelson started. Pinot Bianco makes a striking contribution to the blends, as it grows well in the unique terroir of Monte Orfano. Often with sparkling wines what happens in the cellar is prioritised over what happens in the vineyard, but not here, while only a moderate dosage is used with the natural sugars from their own grapes. The sparkling wines of Franciacorta have a long pedigree, mentioned by Virgil and Pliny the Elder, and now are gaining the wider recognition they so
clearly deserve.
