The story.
“Great wines are made on the vine, and when the variety, aspect and soil type are right, Australia delivers elegant, textured and fruit-driven wines that hold their own with the best in the world.” Sam Coverdale has worked all over Australia and Europe and has been making his Even Keel wines since 2006. Two years later he moved to Mornington Peninsula, lured by the surf and exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. He’s been making his organic & biodynamic Polperro wines here since 2009, in a remarkable region with myriad soil types and mesoclimates, including maritime influences from two directions, and intricately small plots (the average vineyard size is 2.5 hectares) that lend themselves to fascinating single-vineyard expressions.
