The story.
“Great wines are made on the vine, and when the variety, aspect and soil type are right, Australia delivers elegant, textured and fruit-driven wines that hold their own with the best in the world.” Sam Coverdale has worked all over Australia and Europe and has been making his Even Keel wines since 2006. These wines celebrate a number of cooler climate regions around Australia. Two years after founding Even Keel, Sam moved to Mornington Peninsula, lured by the surf and exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Established in 2009, Polperro is his and wife Emma's home for estate-grown, single-vineyard expressions of unique sites that include the highest on the peninsula (Mill Hill at 270 metres above sea level). Along with assistant winemaker & vineyard manager Brent Osbourne, the Polperro team takes a holistic approach, tending to every aspect in the winery and the vineyard, where sustainability runs to the heart of what they do. Their home vineyard, Talland Hill, is certified organic & biodynamic and the farm is well underway to achieving certification across the rest of the vineyards.
