The story.
Markus Heid is the tenth generation of his family to make the wine at this small farm in Fellbach, the first being Jakob Melchisedec Heid in 1664. Certified organic since 2009, and at just 12 hectares, this is the smallest of the three Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP)* estates in Fellbach. Württemberg, with the city of Stuttgart at its heart, is considered by many to be Germany's leading region for red wine, its hilly vineyards home to significant plantings of Lemberger (aka Blaufränkisch) in particular.
*VDP represents the leading 197 wineries in Germany
